At Scout, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) are central to who we are not just policies we follow, but principles we live by every day.
🧭 Our Commitment
Scout provides equal opportunities in all aspects of employment including recruitment, training, career development, pay, promotion, and working conditions.
We celebrate individuality and ensure that every person is treated fairly and with respect, regardless of their:
- Age
- Sex, gender identity, or gender expression
- Marital or civil partnership status
- Sexual orientation
- Race or ethnic background
- Nationality or national origin
- Disability, neurodiversity, or health condition
- Religion or belief
- Pregnancy or parental status
These are referred to as Protected Characteristics under UK law, but our commitment goes further we actively strive to remove barriers and promote inclusion across all aspects of working life.
⚖️ Understanding Discrimination
Discrimination can take several forms. None of them have a place at Scout.
Types of discrimination include:
- Direct discrimination: Treating someone less favorably because of a Protected Characteristic (for example, rejecting a candidate for their religious beliefs or sexual orientation).
- Indirect discrimination: Applying a rule or condition that applies to everyone but unfairly disadvantages certain groups (e.g., requiring full-time work without justification, which may disadvantage those with childcare responsibilities).
- Harassment: Unwanted behaviour related to a Protected Characteristic that violates a person’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.
